Cristiano Ronaldo boats the best hat-trick record in the history of European football

Yet another match ball went home with Cristiano Ronaldo last weekend as the Real Madrid forward scored four times in the 6-3 victory over Girona.

That took his hat-tricks tally to 34 in league competition, which is more than any other player in the top European leagues.

With 32, Gerd Muller was the closest to the Portuguese forward, but Ronaldo has moved ahead of him this season to become the best ever at scoring three times in a match.

Lionel Messi, meanwhile has scored 28 LaLiga hat-tricks in his career.

Looking outside of Spain and outside of Germany, where Muller still holds the record, Alan Shearer has the most hat-tricks of any Premier League player with 11, Giuseppe Meazza leads the way in Italy with 15, Mario Jardel’s 12 hat-tricks beats any other player in the Portuguese top division and Zlatan Ibrahimovic holds the record in Ligue 1 with seven.
