David De Gea admits he doesn’t feel loved in Spain

De Gea played a full 90 minutes in Spain’s 6-1 drubbing of Argentina and admits he never felt as much love from Spanish fans as when he is playing in England for Manchester United.

Despite playing for one of the most successful national teams as of late and being a top goalkeeper, arguably the best in the world, David still can’t feel the love of Spanish fans.

De Gea says: “In England, I have a great affection and respect that I do not notice so much here. But every time I come to the national team I feel fondness inside, and it is the most important thing.”

The Spaniard has kept 19 clean sheets in 37 games this season for United. For Spain, since the start of the WC qualifying campaign in 2016, he’s conceded 8 goals in 13 games, friendlies included.

Despite declaring his happiness to play for United, he is yet to extend the deal with the current one expiring in summer 2019.
