Emmanuel Petit has revealed how he was ignored in Barcelona and regretted that he left Arsenal for the Spanish club.
Emmanuel Petit came to Barcelona in 2000, at the time of President Joan Gaspart.
The Frenchman was “signed” with Marc Overmars from Arsenal. But the midfielder went unnoticed to the Blaugrana club. Now, he has published a book that shows his career anecdotes.
In one of his chapters he writes: “Barcelona, for my bad luck.” Former footballer explains that he did not have to leave London at the age of 30, as in Spain his career was reduced: “The only thing I regret in my life was that I changed Arsenal for Barcelona.”
Former Catalan player admitted that his adaptation to “Camp Nou” was not good from the start, while explaining that the “dressing rooms had clans”: “When I arrived in Barcelona, some teammates ignored me, did not have welcoming.
In a short time I saw that there were three clans: the Catalans, the Dutch and others. So goodbye to unity. ”
A year later he left the Catalan club to return to the capital of England, though this time he went to Chelsea, where he retired later years.
