Barcelona’s Copa del Rey win was also celebrated in Colombia. Despite not playing in the final Yerry Mina was crowned champion, having played in the semi-final against Valencia.

Against Los Che, Mina came on for Pique in the 83rd minute of the game. So this is his first European title and the fourth of his career, having won two with Santa Fe (2014, 15) and one with Palmeiras (2016).

Mina joins a select list with only Harold Lozano (Mallorca, 2003) and Radamel Falcao on (Atletico 2013) of Colombians who have won the trophy.

Less happy was Luis Muriel. He was on Sevill’as team and saw first-hand his team destroyed. He was the second Colombian in consecutive years to suffer the same fate, with Daniel Torres suffering the same fate as Barca beat his Alaves last year.
