Pique: Since Real Madrid didn’t make a guard of honour, I asked our staff for one

Real Madrid were unable to spoil the party atmosphere at the Camp Nou on Sunday as the match finished 2-2 yet Gerard Pique pointed to their rivals’ refusal to offer a guard of honour, after which he asked Barcelona’s staff to provide one anyway.

It was all part of the Catalan giants’ post-match celebrations with the home crowd following the dual success of winning the Copa del Rey and LaLiga.

“As we are a family, and they didn’t want to give us a guard of honour, I’ve asked our staff to make one,” he explained to the crowd.

“With that we are leaving.”

The team then performed the improvised guard of honour before leaving the pitch in the knowledge that avoiding defeat against Villarreal, Levante and Real Sociedad will see them reach invincible status.
