Brazil superstar Neymar has been undertaking medical tests this week, in hope of proving his return to fitness ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

The forward missed the second part of the season after breaking a bone in his foot while playing his club football with Paris Saint Germain.

The 26-year-old was a doubt to make the showpiece tournament, but looks to have returned in time to lead his nation on the biggest stage of all.

In February Neymar left the field injured during PSG’s home clash against rivals Marseille.

The reigning French champions were cruising 3-0 when Neymar fell awkwardly following a tackle with Bouna Sarr.

Lying on the floor and clutching his ankle, Neymar soon had to be helped from the field and has been out of action since.

The diagnosis was a broken metatarsal and sprained ankle, giving the forward a long process of recovery and rehabilitation ahead.

Neymar has been keeping fans constantly up to date with his recovery work via social media, with several videos of him back kicking the ball around recently surfacing.

Brazil face upcoming preparation friendlies with Croatia and Austria, before kicking off their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on June 17.

In order to progress from the group stages, Neymar and co must overcome Serbia and Costa Rica along with the Swiss in Group E.
