Alexandre Pato has issued a come-and-get-me plea to former club Milan. “I’m in love, so I couldn’t say no. If Gennaro Gattuso called…”
Pato scored 63 goals and won a Scudetto in six seasons with Milan and now plys his trade in China for Fabio Cannavaro’s Tianjin Quanjian, but the striker made it clear he would relish a return to San Siro.
“Seeing Milan like this is sad, but they need patience,” the 28-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Their fans still have the team who won everything in their sights, but Milan have changed a lot and returning to the top can’t happen overnight.
“Playing in the Europa League again is a first step. Gattuso gave them a shock and his renewal was the right decision.
“Would I go back? They have Chinese owners and I like Italian football. I’m in love with Milan and the city, so I couldn’t say no.
“I still have a year-and-a-hald left on my contract, but never say never. If Gattuso calls me, I could recommend a striker to him…”
