Brazil captain Thiago Silva has explained why Liverpool have pulled off a masterstroke in signing £45million midfielder Fabinho.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds wasted no time in flying out the traps to land the Monaco man early into the summer transfer window, after defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The 24-year-old will officially sign for the Reds on July 1, after successfully completing a medical and finalising terms on a long-term contract.
“We have signed a fantastic player, but someone who is an equally fantastic person I think,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com. “His reputation as a character in the dressing room and his attitude in training has come through from everyone we speak to.
“He has a lovely family also – adding a person like this to our dressing room only makes us even stronger.”
And Klopp isn’t the only one confident Fabinho can make a huge impact on Merseyside.
Speaking at Tottenham’s training ground, where Brazil are preparing for the World Cup, Silva told the press: “[Fabinho] is really smart, a really technical player and I am sure he will get adapted to the Premier League as soon as he arrives here.”
“He changed his position in Monaco. He was a right-back and now he is a midfielder.
“I don’t know how Liverpool are thinking about using him, but I am sure they can use him in both.”
Fabinho has been capped four times by his country but didn’t make the cut for the World Cup with Tite picking Casemiro, Paulinho and Fernandinho ahead of him.
