Bayern Munich are the most successful club in Germany and they have won European trophies as well. They have a rich history of world-class players and they have some quality players on their current roster as well.
The Bavarian giants are ruthlessly dominant in Germany, whenever a club tries to rise and challenge them, they end up signing their best players. This helps them maintain their untouchable status in Germany.
The likes of Mats Hummels, Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandoski, Sadio Wagner, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Sule all use to play for their domestic rivals.
While they also make sure that their academy players also get a run into the first team and the likes of Thomas Muller and David Alaba are a proof of that.
But now after winning six consecutive Bundesliga titles there teams seems to be in a phase of transition.
Under new head coach Niko Kovač the team is heading into a new era. Their dynamic duo of Ribery and Robben are now veterans. And the club’s hierarchy believes that they need to reshape the team.
If the team is reshaped it means that new players will come in and some old ones will go out. Here we look at five Players who could leave Bayern Munich this summer-
#1 Juan Bernat
Bernat had another disappointing season at the Allianz Stadium.
Juan Bernat joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014 from Spanish club Valencia for a fee of £9 million. He has so far made 113 appearances for Bayern in four seasons. The former Valencia left-back has been mainly an understudy to David Alaba.
He endured an injury-hit 2017/18 season and even when fit he failed to displace David Alaba from Bayern’s starting line up. He just made 11 appearances for the club in 2017/18. Also, he has just one year left on his contract as his contract expires in 2019.
Schakle and Everton have been mooted as potential destinations for the Spaniard. It has been reported that after another disappointing season the Bavarian giants are keen to offload him.
A move will be good for him as he is just 25 years old and he has just got one year left on his contract if he moves it should be a good move for both him and Bayern as he will get more playing time and Bayern will not lose for free.
#4 Arturo Vidal
Arturo Vidal moved to Allianz Arena from Juventus for a fee of £37.80 and it is safe to say that after three Bundesliga titles and one German Super Cup Bayern have recouped the money spent on him.
A knee injury meant he missed the crucial games in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder also has just one year left on his contract and Bayern may offload the player in the summer.
He is currently on vacation and he will decide his future after that. A reunion with Juventus could be a possible option for him.
While Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Napoli have been linked with him. The German giants are reportedly demanding £50 million for him.
Since the time it was confirmed that Leon Goretzka will join Bayern Munich for a free transfer in the summer there were rumors that Vidal might be sold.
Though both of them are very different players with Vidal’s age and one year on his contract Goretzka’s youth seems to be the better option for the Bavarian giants.
#3 Jérôme Boateng
It seems like Jerome Boateng has been ever-present at Bayern Munich but the German is really just 29 years old. Though his primary position is of a center back he is also capable of playing as a right back as well.
Due to injuries he just managed to make 19 appearances for the club. At one point in time during the season, it seemed that he might not even be fit for the World Cup, but somehow he managed.
The former Manchester City defender has publicly stated that he would like to move abroad. The Bayern hierarchy is willing to sell the German if they feel the price is right. While the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Napoli have been encouraged to make move for him.
Boateng at the age of 29 has won and seen everything with Bayern. He has a few good years left in him and it would be good for him to test himself abroad. Also with the rise of Sule, Bayern defense might not miss the German so much.
Thiago hasn’t turned up for Bayern in the big games.
The Spaniard was signed by Pep Guardiola from FC Barcelona. He did show peaks of his potential and finally, under Carlo Ancelotti, he found his stride and become a regular for Bayern Munich.
He has performed really well for the German club and he is now considered to be one of the best midfielders in the world.
But the former Barca youth academy players have been often criticised for not turning up in the big games and influence the game as he usually does.
Many at Bayern believe that he flourishes in the Bundesliga where the competition is not so tough, but he is unable to produce the same in big games such as the ones at Real Madrid in recent seasons.
Bayern has made Thiago available and they are demanding £70 million for him. Barcelona have are said to be interested in him and could include Lucas Digne as a part of the deal. While Guardiola is also eyeing a reunion with the midfielder.
Though it is true that Thiago in big games especially in the Champions League did not bring his A game.
But he is just 27 and about to reach his peak and Bayern need players like him and it would be unwise to sell him.
#1 Robert Lewandowski
Lewandoski has been the Bundesliga top scorer four times with Bayern and he has won four Bundesliga titles as well
The Polish striker since his free transfer from Dortmund has been scoring goals for fun at the Allianz Arena.
He has been the Bundesliga top scorer four times with Bayern and he has won four Bundesliga titles as well.
Usually, whenever there are transfer rumors about any Bayern Munich player they are quick to quash them, but Lewandowski’s transfer rumor has been going round and round and despite assurances, these rumors are refusing to go away.
According to his agent, he is looking for a new challenge and he has set his heart to a move to the Bernabeu where he has the best chance of winning the Champions League. Chelsea, Manchester United and Juventus have also been linked with the striker.
It seems like the rumors are true that the former Dortmund striker wants to leave Bayern, though Bayern wants to keep him but keeping a player who wants to leave would not be in the best interest of anyone.
Lewandowski is 29 and is likely to still command a big transfer fee, thus Bayern should sell and find a replacement as quickly as possible.
