Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, is spending the most important year of his career as a footballer, and now his job is to help his team continue domination in Europe.
Real Madrid have managed to win the Champions League four times in five years, becoming the first team to win this race three times in a row. Moreover, Modric also shone at the World Cup with the Croatian national team, where he also won the silver medal.
After the wonderful season he had with Real Madrid, again proclaiming champions of Europe, as well as with Croatia’s national team this summer, Modric was rewarded with individual awards.
Initially, he won the UEFA prize for the best midfielder and won the race against Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah for the award the best player. While now, he is also nominated by FIFA for the best player in the world, against the same opponents.
Modric was named the best player in the World Cup tournament, though failed to help his team to be champions. And now, it is said he has done enough to win the UEFA prize for the best player in the world.
Since 2008, Ronaldo and Messi have won this price. Both have triumphed five times, and if Modric wins the prize for the best player, then he can win the “Golden Ball” as well.
