Something is going on with Lucas Vazquez

Very rarely has a secondary actor played such a leading role, but this is the case of Lucas Vazquez, one of the most loyal players of former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and a wild card since Julen Lopetegui‘s arrival at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spaniard has been an important figure in the recent successes of Los Blancos, as well as being one of the leaders of the famous plan B, however, something is going on with Lucas.

The right winger has not been getting the call ups for Lopetegui‘s match day squads and the footballer gives off the feeling of not being as connected to the team as always.

In addition, his minutes on the field have reduced dramatically, as the coach has yet to gain confidence in the Spaniard.

It seems that Lucas is the one who is hurting the most since the departure of Zidane.

He is the only Real Madrid player that has failed to start a match this season thus far, barely playing 100 minutes in the team’s seven official matches this season.

Against Espanyol, he played 27 minutes, but nothing positive came from his cameo appearance.

Zidane got the best out of Vazquez and Lopetegui also counted on the player during his time as the coach of Spain’s national team.

In fact, he gave Lucas his golden pass to the World Cup, however, now it looks like things have changed in Madrid, as the Los Blancos man has lost his spot in the team, which now belongs to Dani Ceballos.

It is also true that the Gareth Bale-Marco Asensio-Karim Benzema trident has been untouchable for the coach.

Apart from the competition in the squad, the 27-year-old is also threatened by Brazilian starlet Vinicius Junior, the future star for the Spanish club.

The youngster has complicated the situation, as Madrid do not want the teenager to continue playing for Castilla, meaning they are looking for a spot in the first squad and everything is pointing to Lucas Vazquez‘s position.
