Barcelona star: The Best award is a lie

He continues: ‘He eats at a separate table. There is no comparison with another player’
The Blaugrana defender assisted the Argentine two times in a 4-2 win over Spurs on Wednesday night
You cannot just NOT be impressed with Leo Messi’s magic as everything he is doing at the pitch is a work of art. His Barcelona teammate, Jordi Alba, holds the same opinion as he heaps praise on the Argentine following Wednesday’s highly entertaining 4-2 win over Spurs at Wembley.

Moreover, Alba lashes out at FIFA for snubbing the Argentine for the most prestigious The Best award. He was only voted fifth in the overall list while it was Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric who emerged victorious for this award. However, the Argentine won a domestic double and scored more goals than any other player across the European top-five leagues.

Goal quote Alba as saying: ‘For me, The Best is a lie. Modric is a great player, one of the best in the world. Leo has proved that he is the best player in the world. Offensively he has created a lot of danger like he does in every game and defensively he has been at a spectacular level, running as much as the most. And when Leo runs we have no choice but to grit your teeth.’

He continues: ‘We have been a very [supportive] team. I’m happy with the work of all the players. About Leo we have already said that it is the best players in the world and he makes the rest of us better. Today once again he has been the best.’

Alba insists Messi isn’t comparable to any other player. He finishes up: ‘Messi eats at a separate table. I say it honestly, not because he plays on my team. When I was at Valencia I had the same opinion. He plays at another level, he scores goals, he provides assists, he runs as much as the most. There is no comparison with another player and everyone knows it.’

Barcelona beat Spurs 4-2 at Wembley on Wednesday night in their second match in the Champions League group stage. Messi created two first goals of the game and scored a brace after the break. Alba, meanwhile, provided three assists.
