The Croatian midfielder isn’t giving up on Inter transfer
And refuses to discuss a renewal with Madrid
Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter Milan are still targeting to sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid. The player himself is open to the move as he feels unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu. The out of form midfielder, whose contract runs out in summer 2020, has reportedly refused to discuss a renewal with Los Blancos.

Modric’s compatriots at the Nerazzurri, Sime Vrsaljko, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic, are believed to be a key factor behind the maestro’s intention to move to Italy.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said recently that the signing of the Croat in January is ‘impossible’ but the interest of both parties in reaching an agreement is still alive.

Inter Milan were linked with a sensational Luka Modric transfer since early August. They were rumoured to offer the Croatian a sensational 10 million euros per YEAR salary while other reports suggested they would rather sign him on loan in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules.

The situation hasn’t changed even after the closure of the transfer window. Italian sports news outlet Corriere dello Sport claimed Inter are ready to return for Modric already in January. They hope to persuade Madrid president Florentino Perez to let his star midfielder leave.
