The aftermath of the defeat at the derby against Barcelona has left Real Madrid with two casualties, as both Marcelo and Mariano departed the Camp Nou pitch injured.

While the Brazilian is set to be sidelined until the international break, the 25-year-old forward will miss up to 15 days of full training.

Marcelo was already injured after the game against Sevilla, a muscle problem in the same area that troubled him on Sunday.

The 30-year-old left-back will miss all the games until November’s international break, against UD Melilla, Real Valladolid, Viktoria Plzen and Celta Vigo.

It’s Marcelo’s second muscle injury in one month, something that also happened to Jesus Vallejo, Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal before now.

Vallejo – the player who is regarded as Los Blancos’ fourth central defender – hasn’t played yet this season due to several injuries and he isn’t expected to return to the team for the next two weeks at least.
