Ronaldo: I’m not obsessed with individual awards

Although winning individual awards seems to motivate Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese has denied the claims.

In fact, he opines, nothing could be further from the truth.

“I’m not obsessed with individual prizes, the important thing is to help the team win,” he said to Record.

“Everything else is a natural consequence.

“I feel the same about breaking records, in that I don’t care, they just happen because I improve more and more.”

Juventus are one of the favourites for the Champions League thanks to their addition of signing the former Real Madrid striker, but Ronaldo thinks it will be difficult.

“The technical, tactical and physical level of all the teams has improved,” he continued.

“Winning is getting more difficult, and that is why I have to work even harder to stay on top.

“To win it [the Champions League] is beautiful and it’s something that makes me happy, but if doesn’t happen, it’s not the end of the world.”

Just like Lionel Messi with Argentina, Ronaldo took a break from Portugal duty post-World Cup, but is ready and waiting for another call.

“In 2019 I intend to be available again to the coaching staff,” he concluded.
