Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City shared an epic tussle at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night and now it seems a Manchester United fan is still having a bit of fun with the result.
Spurs led 1-0 ahead of the trip to Manchester and were even 2-1 in front in the Champions League quarter-final second leg but City pulled it back and took a 4-3 aggregate lead in the second half.
Fernando Llorente’s bundled goal, however, levelled the tie and allowed Mauricio Pochettino’s men to progress on the away goals rule.
That was only after a dramatic conclusion to the game which saw Raheem Sterling find the net for what he thought was his hat-trick goal, only for VAR to rule it out for offside, with Sergio Aguero the culprit.
Now it seems a Manchester United fan has been having fun with a sign in Greater Manchester ahead of a rematch between Spurs and Man City on Saturday lunchtime. The sign in question has been hilariously doctored to include a VAR reference and Spurs fans will love it.
It reads: “City v Tottenham. Sat 20/04 – 12:30
“Take the tram to the game. Picc – the Etihad in 10 minutes.
“It’s by VAR the quickest option!”
It is the latest in a now long line of funny traffic and football warnings which have been displayed in recent weeks and months.
Just last week, transport chiefs posted a classic message to United fans as they faced West Ham at Old Trafford in what was a crucial game in their fight for a top four place.
It said: “MUFC v West Ham. Old Trafford. Saturday 13th April. 17:30
“Utd need three points, but you don’t!!
“Please slow down.”
We all need a bit of light relief when football gets THAT intense.
