Zidane’s start at Real Madrid worse than Solari’s

Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid hasn’t been great so far. Since replacing Santiago Solari, the results have not been as expected. There have been setbacks under Zidane and the numbers show that he’s made a worse start than Solari.

Madrid have only picked up two points from a possible nine on the road. They’ve drawn with Leganes and Getafe. Meanwhile, Solari won all five of his first away games as Madrid boss — 15 points from 15. He won at Real Valladolid, Levante, Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Real Betis. During that run, Madrid scored 15 goals, a run of goalscoring which the current side would love to be on following Thursday’s goalless draw with Getafe.

It’s not strange, then, to learn that this Madrid is the third worse Madrid side of the 21st century.
