Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal admits Juventus have ‘disappointed’ him in the Champions League this season.

Vidal spent three years at Juve between 2012 and 2015, reaching the Champions League Final in his final campaign with the Old Lady.

“The Bianconeri’s elimination surprised me,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I was certain that Allegri’s team would reach the Final. It was a big disappointment.”

The 31-year-old was speaking after he helped a Lionel Messi-inspired Barca beat Liverpool 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

“Leo’s an extraordinary player: not only does he score and provide assists, but he also gives a big hand in defence with his pressing.

“Playing with him obviously makes me very happy.”
