Godin to become highest-paid player with €6.75m per season at Inter

Diego Godin is expected to become the highest-paid player at Inter when he joins from Atletico Madrid.

He is widely known to have agreed terms as a free agent once his contract with Atleti expires in June.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Uruguay international will pen a three-year deal with Inter worth up to €6.75m per season.

That would make him the top earner in the Nerazzurri squad, increasing his current Atletico Madrid salary by 35 per cent.

It’s believed Inter had originally only wanted to offer a two-year contract, but the 33-year-old insisted on three.

He has been with Atletico Madrid since 2010.
