Real Madrid are watching events unfold at Paris Saint-Germain with added interest after Kylian Mbappe’s comments about seeking greater responsibility.

Mbappe placed his PSG future in doubt by suggesting he wants a bigger role at PSG ‘or somewhere else’ and Real are plotting a summer overhaul after a disastrous season.

According Marca, Madrid believe Mbappe’s remarks could even mean Neymar might become available should PSG move to make their France star their main man.

Madrid have repeatedly been linked with Mbappe and Neymar but Marca say that a move has, as of yet, failed to materialise because president Florentino Perez is wary of upsetting PSG’s owner, the Emir of Qatar.

On Sunday evening, Mbappe was crowned Ligue 1 player of the year and reflected on an indifferent season for PSG, where they won the French league but were knocked out the Champions League in the last-16.

‘Of course there have been lots of disappointment this season but that is part of football,’ Mbappe said.

‘This is a very important moment for me, I am arriving at maybe the first or second turning point in my career.

‘I have learned so much here, and I feel it’s maybe the time to have more responsibility.

‘Maybe at PSG, that would give me great pleasure, or maybe elsewhere for a new project.’

The PSG striker scored 38 goals in 42 appearances this season and set up 17.
