FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are negotiating over a deal for Antoine Griezmann. Representatives from both clubs met last week and they look to structure a deal similar to the one Atletico agreed with Benfica for Joao Felix.

‘L’Equipe’ revealed that the two sides met last week. SPORT has been able to confirm this meeting took place and can reveal a little more details about it. Barça and Atleti want to reach an agreement which works out well for both teams.

The plan is for Barça to pay slightly more than his buyout clause – €126m, €6m more than his €120m clause – at the beginning of next month. This would match the cost of Atletico’s deal for Griezmann’s replacement: Joao Felix.

This way Atletico could structure the Griezmann deal – and instalments – to run alongside the ones they must make to Benfica.

Barça would also be happy with this deal as it would make it easier for them to break down the payments and not impede their own summer moments. With a move for Neymar Jr looking increasingly likely, freeing up a considerable amount of money is crucial.

Atletico are still interested in Nelson Semedo but he won’t be included in any deal for Griezmann.
