‘Neymar could be a strategic signing for Barcelona’

Negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona for a potential Neymar return may take several weeks, but directors at the Catalan club are well aware of the marketing boost such a transfer could bring to the club.

The Brazilian’s talent is undisputable and, although his comeback may trigger controversy, the Blaugrana will benefit financially from his signing.

Neymar has 121 million followers on Instagram, while he has sponsorship agreements with more than 30 brands and the profit he can bring in from shirt sales, match tickets, TV rights and sponsors could be enormous for the club.

As Carles Canto, CEO of SPSG Consulting, has made clear, should the brands of Barcelona and the Brazilian be brought back together then the club would benefit greatly in a business sense.

“[Neymar’s] Instagram profile is an amplifier for Barcelona’s brand, allowing them to reach millions of people globally,” he said.

“The club can boost its business through the player’s social networks.

“Imagine if Barcelona get every fan to spend one euro on the Barcelona brand thanks to Neymar…”
