Barcelona have reshaped their youth coaching set-up and it’s reported that the coaches whose contracts weren’t renewed were told via WhatsApp.

Jordi Roura is expected to join the first team scouting department, while Guillermo Amor’s youth team responsibilities will cease and he will take on an ambassadorial role with the club. Jose Mari Bakero, currently the head of the youth academy, could also leave.

A number of coaches working with the youth academy whose contracts came due on June 30 were told they weren’t being renewed via a WhatsApp message, with a phone number to call for more information.

It’s noted that they were told on July 2, days after the end of their deals, where Barca have traditionally informed staff of their futures before the end of the contract.

A number of those leaving reportedly went to the club in person for more information but were told that as they are no longer club employees, they did not need to visit the club offices.

Payroll was also two days late – July 2 rather than June 30 – the report adds, amid speculation that Barca delayed paying the coaches in order to help balance last season’s financial accounts.
