Antoine Griezmann has trained with his new Barcelona team-mates for the first time since joining the club for £108million.

After a protracted transfer saga, the Frenchman’s move from Atletico Madrid was announced last Friday.

And he is already in the thick of the pre-season action, having set to work with Ernesto Valverde’s Spanish champions on Monday morning.

The World Cup winner looked right at home in his fresh surroundings, no doubt relieved to have finally joined the club after his release clause was triggered.

Kitted out in the blue training top and navy shorts, Griezmann and Co were put through a light session.

He was seen running through a tunnel of players and will have been familiar with many of them, having crossed paths so frequently in club and international colours.

Griezmann will wear the No 17 this season and spoke of his desire to win the Champions League.

After joining he said: ‘I’m very excited to be here. I’m accepting a big challenge. I’m ready for what’s coming up.’

‘It’s a new challenge. I always try to better myself and break out of my comfort zone. I want to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League – which is missing from my CV.’

Barcelona had to take out a loan of £31.5m to help cover the signing of Griezmann after Atletico refused to accept payment in instalments.

His agent has hit out at Diego Simeone’s side for their lack of good faith in negotiations and the bad blood between both parties has shown little sign of abating.
