The extent of an injury suffered by Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez has been exaggerated, according to reports in Spain.

The news was confirmed on Monday that the player had suffered an injury to his soleus muscle in his ankle and was expected to miss several weeks.

He is now ruled out of Madrid’s trip to Villarreal this coming weekend and is also set to miss the international break with Colombia, who are set to play Brazil and Venezuela.

However, Edu Aguirre told El Chiringuito, as cited by Diario AS: “James Rodriguez does not have a break, he does not have a micro-break. He has an edema, which means that he will not be unavailable for one month, but for just eight or ten days. Next week James will return to training.”
