Cristiano Ronaldo invited Lionel Messi out to dinner with him during an interview on BT Sport as part of the Champions League draw coverage.
The Juventus forward was sat front row next to Messi and UEFA Men’s Best Player award winner Virgil van Dijk, delivering a brilliant interview regarding his relationship with his fellow five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The pair were seen in conversation throughout the ceremony in Monaco and Ronaldo had some great words to say about their lengthy battle at the top – extending an invitation for dinner to Messi and showing that there is incredible respect between the duo.
"We have not had dinner together yet, but I hope so in the future."
"It's great to be a part of the history of football. I am there, and of course, he is as well."
Magnificent.

I have always known Messi and Ronaldo will end up as best of friends when they eventually retire.

Love this….
"We shared this stage for 15 years, me and him. I don't know if it's ever happened in football, it's not easy. I miss to play in Spain. He pushed me and I pushed him as well" @Cristiano talking to @ReshminTV about missing his battles with #Messi #UCLDraw pic.twitter.com/KEif0M2k67

“I shared this stage with him (Messi) for 15 years,” Ronaldo said.
“I don’t know if it has ever happened before in football – the same two guys in the same stage all the time. Of course we have a good relationship – we have not had dinner together yet, but I hope so in the future.
