Paul Pogba fuelled last-ditch transfer deadline day speculation when he liked an Instagram post urging him to quit Manchester United for Real Madrid .
United midfielder Pogba has been linked with a move to Madrid all summer, with Real boss Zinedine Zidane a big admirer of the World Cup winner.
Zidane had suggested anything could happen before the Spanish transfer deadline, prompting United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to blast: “Paul Pogba will be playing for us.”
But as the La Liga transfer deadline loomed, Pogba liked a post saying ‘Please come to Madrid’ – fuelling suspicion that the French midfielder still has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.
Pogba has resisted the offer of a new contract at United and said earlier in the summer that the time could be right for a new challenge.
With the Red Devils having to settle for Europa League football this season after failing to finish in the top four last term, it was widely expected Pogba would force through an exit, with former club Juventus as well as Real Madrid believed to be keen on securing his services.
But Solskjaer has said since pre-season that Pogba is happy to stay .
