Marc-Andre ter Stegen believes he proved a point after his penalty save helped Barcelona draw at Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League group stage clash.

The German stopper clashed with international colleague Manuel Neuer over the national team’s No 1 spot, with the veteran insisting Ter Stegen should accept his role as deputy.

After stopping Marco Reus’ penalty, Ter Stegen felt his dplay between the sticks demonstrated his ability.

Ter Stegen said: ‘People know what I am capable of.

‘I always have trust in myself, and my performances, and today was a chance to prove that.

‘We played well tonight, but we need to improve in certain areas.

‘A point is probably a fair result.’

Ter Stegen had deputsied for Neuer with the national side in 2018 when the Bayern Munich keeper had a foot injury.

However, Neuer came straight back into the side for the ill-fated 2018 World Cup campaign and has kept his place.
