Kylian Mbappe’s frightening goalscoring rate is beginning to put the reign of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League under threat.

The Frenchman came off the bench in Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-0 win over Club Brugge on Tuesday night to score a hat-trick in the space of 22 minutes.

At just 20 years of age, Mbappe has already netted a frightening 17 goals in Europe’s premier competition.

Mbappe has missed six matches this campaign through injury yet has still managed score six goals in eight games for PSG, as well as provide four assists.

His perfect hat-trick against Brugge – a goal with his head, right foot and then left foot – has provided a reminder that, despite their recent Champions League disappointments, PSG are very much a threat in Europe, particularly with Mbappe in the side.

At his current rate, Mbappe appears to be the undisputed future of football bar any unexpected setback.

His PSG contract ends in 2022, although the French champions are eager to tie him down for longer.

However, Europe’s elite are lurking, especially Real Madrid, who are determined to land the World Cup winner.
