‘He’s fine and he’s going to play’ – Portugal coach Santos on Ronaldo’s fitness

Fernando Santos has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to play for Portugal in their upcoming qualifiers against Lithuania and Luxembourg.

The Juventus forward was an injury doubt ahead of the international break, but the Portugal boss has dismissed rumours about his physical fitness.

“He’s fine and he’s going to play,” Santos said about his captain.

“[He’s] very motivated.

“He’s a fantastic professional.”

Santos became frustrated by the barrage of questions about Ronaldo during his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Lithuania.

“Once again, no, I’m not speaking [about Ronaldo] anymore,” he said.
