Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is open to the club signing his eventual replacement in the near future.
The defending La Liga champions have been linked with bringing in a successor to the 32-year old, however his consistent form has meant that project has been delayed until at least next season.
Suarez is currently Barcelona’s fourth highest ever goal scorer, with 185, behind club legends Laszlo Kubala, Cesar and Lionel Messi.
However the former Liverpool man was pragmatic about the situation, when interviewed by Uruguayan newspaper Ovacion during the international break.
“There will come a time where age will not allow me to be at the level needed for Barcelona.”
“But while I have the strength to keep playing, it is better that they bring in a replacement.”
“It is not strange that they would be looking for a new player, it normal, it is the reality of football.”
“If a new player comes in, it can help me and improve competition within the squad.”
However, Suarez did have a warning for any potential new signing about the pressures of playing for Barcelona, but added that it is an honour to play for the club.
Suarez returned to the Uruguay squad for this international break, after missing out in October due to injury, and played 45 minutes in the 2-1 win over Hungary
