Young Brazilian Reinier Jesus has been Real Madrid’s only signing in this January transfer window but the teenager has been unable to hide his delight at making the switch from Flamengo.
Having made his professional debut last season, he has already won the Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores and will now turn his attention to the next step in his career in Europe.
“It’s a dream come true, coming to Real Madrid is the best, it’s the biggest club in the world,” he told Globoesporte.
“It’s a feeling of immense happiness, I’m very happy, it’s a dream come true for me and my family.”
Ahead of joining his new teammates in February, after a qualifying competition for the Olympic Games in Tokyo with Brazil, he has already been in contact with some of them.
“Marcelo sent me a message, Rodrygo too, it made me happy that they welcomed me,” the midfielder revealed.
“Now it’s about arriving with calm, with feet on the ground, and seeing what happens.”
Reinier has not nailed down a regular role with Brazil but was already asked by the media about whether he could ever play for anyone other than Flamengo should he return to his home country.
“No, no, are you crazy?” he responded.
“My love for Flamengo has only grown since I was 12, I would never play for Vasco, they are our rivals and I don’t like them.”
The 18 year old put pen to paper on a contract until June 2026 when completing a deal reportedly worth 30 million euros on Monday.
