Coach Setien says Barcelona took a step forward against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday night, despite being eliminated by the King’s Cup with a 1-0 defeat in the quarter-finals.
Inaki Williams scored a header in the final moments of the match at San Mames Stadium, eliminating Barcelona from the King’s Cup and continuing the Catalans’ troubles in away games.
Since Setien took over as coach, Barcelona h ave been nearly defeated by Ibiza, lost to Valencia and now defeated by Bilbao – but he has been confident that the team is improving.
“Considering what has happened to us in other matches as guests, we have taken a step forward in terms of how we should improve,” Setien said at the post-match press conference.
“It’s the same as always; there are days when you only have one chance and you score and there are days when you have ten chances and you cannot score. There is no reasonable explanation. ”
“I never knew what or who to blame. Their goal came from an action that was not dangerous. There are some things that cannot be controlled and this is one of them. ”
“Everything went well except for the result. I’m happy with the team’s work. “
