Ajax assistant manager – and former Juventus midfielder – Christian Poulsen is in isolation after coming into contact with a Coronavirus sufferer.

According to Dutch paper De Telegraaf, Poulsen and two other members of the Ajax staff have been told to stay home until March 13 as a precaution.

It is because Danish international Poulsen attended a birthday dinner last Friday and one of the others present at that gathering has since tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag will have to do without assistant manager Poulsen, fitness coach Alessandro Schoenmaker and an unnamed physiotherapist.

Spokesman Miel Brinkhuis insisted they had no symptoms, but had been told to self-isolate and continually check their temperature.

This comes just after former Denmark international Thomas Kahlenberg tested positive for the Coronavirus, having contracted it on a trip to Amsterdam.

He was put into quarantine along with 13 members of Danish club Brondby’s staff.
