Haller challenges Lewandowski – scores in five games in a row, has 9 goals in the Champions League

Sebastien Haller is continuing his excellent form in the Champions League with Ajax scoring in his fifth consecutive game in this competition against Besiktas on Wednesday.

Haller, who joined the club from Amsterdam in January 2020, was a major failure at West Ham in the Premier League, scoring just 14 goals in 54 appearances following his huge afër 50m transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt.

But it has been a different story with his new club. He has scored 29 goals in 40 appearances for the Dutch giants.

He scored twice for Ajax in the second half to turn the game around for his team as they were losing from the 22nd minute.

Finding the net, Haller joined a group of famous players to score five goals in their first five appearances in Europe’s elite competition.

He became the fourth player to complete this success, after Alessandro Del Piero (1995), Diego Costa (2014) and Erling Haaland (2019).

Haller currently has 9 goals, as many as Robert Lewandowski has in this edition of the Champions League.

It looks like it will be a nice match between the striker from the Ivory Coast and the Polish one from Bayern Munich.
