Leroy Sane would be willing to hand his No 10 shirt at Bayern Munich to Sadio Mane after the forward arrived from Liverpool earlier this week.
That is according to Sane’s father, who has commented on the transfer now the £35.1million switch has been officially rubber-stamped and unveiled.
Germany international Sane was handed the jersey when he joined from Manchester City in 2020, although Mane may provide competition for it next season.
Having sported the number during his time at Anfield and currently on the international stage with Senegal, he may want it back.
And it appears there would be no issues between the two team-mates in that eventuality, with Souleymane Sane insisting an agreement is possible.
‘Sadio Mane is known with the number 10 at Liverpool and the national team – while at Bayern my son wears it,’ Sane Snr told Radio Futurs Medias.
‘If Sadio wants the number 10, I’m certain there would be no problem for Leroy to give it to him.’
Mane has admitted that he believed this summer was the ‘right time’ to take on a new challenge, and departed his former club on glowing terms.
There, he won various trophies, including the Champions League and Premier League, and scored 120 goals from 269 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking after joining Bayern, he said: ‘I was really, really clear in my mind.
‘When I was told about the interest from Bayern we discussed it.
‘I think it wasn’t even days, just seconds and I made my decision.
‘I think it’s the right decision, the right time and the right club. As a Bayern supporter or a Bayern player, you know already the project of the club.
‘If you play for this club you need to know you’re here to fight for all the trophies possible.’
