Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to stay at Old Trafford this summer, according to a report.
The 37-year-old’s future has recently been questioned, with one report claiming that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is keen to leave if the Red Devils fail to bolster the squad with new signings this summer.

However, Sky Sports News reports that Ronaldo intends to remain at the club and will join up with the squad for pre-season as soon as he returns from his time away on holiday with his family.

The report adds that a number of United players have already reported back to the club’s Carrington training complex this week, but Ronaldo is due to be one of the latest arrivals for pre-season, following his involvement with Portugal in their first three UEFA Nations League matches earlier this month.

Ronaldo, who has 12 months remaining on his contract, is understood to have given the green light for United to recruit a new striker this summer, while a number of changes in different positions are set to be made by new boss Erik ten Hag.

United are yet to make a single signing this summer, but Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is believed to be their primary target at present, while Ajax forward Antony is also on their shortlist, with the Brazilian’s agent allegedly pushing for his client to move to Old Trafford.

Brentford’s Christian Eriksen is also on their radar, but the Red Devils still waiting for a response from the 30-year-old playmaker, who is due to see his contract with the Bees expire on June 30.
