Cristiano Ronaldo has left Manchester United fans disappointed after he expressed his desire to leave the club.
The Portuguese has submitted a transfer request to the Red Devils after being disappointed with the club’s performance so far this transfer window.
However, before dropping the news of his transfer request, it seems the former Real Madrid and Juventus star had already upset a number of his current team-mates – something that could get even worse if he decides to leave the Red Devils .
Edinson Cavani was among those angered by Ronaldo’s arrival at the club initially with the Uruguayan of the opinion that he would have been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first striker. But with Ronaldo returning from Juventus – and claiming Cavani’s former number seven shirt – he dropped to second choice.
In the end, the forward ended up making just 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring just twice, with injuries greatly affecting his season on a personal level.
Meanwhile, Cavani’s fellow attacker, Anthony Martial, has also been left frustrated with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s return to Manchester. The Frenchman’s mood is said to have changed at Old Trafford after struggling for playing time during the first half of the season. He eventually joined La Liga side Sevilla on loan until the end of the season, but scored just one goal.
The latest player to feel the effects of Ronaldo’s alleged emotional return to Old Trafford was Red Devils captain Harry Maguire. The defender who cost over 90 million euros felt damaged by the Portuguese’s position as a leader within the United team.
While the Portuguese continued to shine from a personal perspective, the defender’s performances left a lot to be desired, so much so that he was mocked by most fans online
