Regardless of the fact that there is still a war on the territory of Ukraine, the leaders of Ukrainian football decided to start the championship on August 23.
Since the beginning of Russia’s aggression on February 24, not a single football match has been played in Ukraine, and as the Minister of Sports of Ukraine said, the date of the start of the championship was not chosen by chance. It is the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine.
“It is important to continue with football. We keep fighting and cheering. “Ukrainian sport will achieve victory on all fronts, nothing can stop the progress,” announced Minister Gutsait.
However, the matches will be played without an audience.
“Near the stadium there will be shelters in case of air danger. So, if there is a danger from the air, the match will be stopped”, the minister pointed out in his explanation.
