At the age of 86, Uwe Zeller, a legendary German striker who gained his fame playing for the national team and several German clubs, died today.

He was voted the best German footballer three times in his career, was the top scorer in the Bundesliga and was selected in the ideal team of the World Cup in 1966. FIFA named him one of the 100 best footballers of all time.

At the World Cups in 1966 and 1970, he was the captain of the German national team, for which he scored 43 goals in 72 games.
