Xavi Hernandez joined the team late on the American tour, but as soon as he got there he got down to business.
The Spanish coach has held a meeting with his staff to discuss the future of Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay. Xavi will speak to the two players in the coming days to find a solution.
According to Sport, the technician has also been clear about the hierarchies: he wants to leave as soon as possible the players who have not gathered for the American tournament.
It is about five players, Martin Braithwaite, Samuel Umtiti, Oscar Mingueza, Riqui Puig and Neto, who have stayed in Barcelona.
With no concrete offers for either of them since Neto turned down Celta Vigo, it seems unlikely that all five will be gone when Barca return to Spain in 11 days’ time.
However, Xavi has insisted that he will not see them there when he returns to avoid overcrowding the training sessions. The club may also consider terminating Umtit and Braithwaite’s contracts if they fail to sell them.
