The racist chants (you’re a monkey) by some Atletico Madrid fans against Real’s Brazilian striker Vinicius ahead of the La Liga derby won by Carlo Ancelotti’s side will not be overlooked as if nothing happened. The Spanish football league will submit an official report to the Disciplinary Committee of the Football Federation and the State Commission against Violence, denouncing it as abuse.

The capital’s mayor, Jose Luis Martínez-Almeida, who is an Atletico fan, said he hoped those responsible would be identified as soon as possible and banned from entering stadiums across Spain for a long time.

Club Atlético also took a stand against those responsible, completely rejecting this behavior and making themselves fully available to cooperate with the police.

“We contacted the authorities to request that the persons who participated in this reprehensible act be identified. If they are members of the club, they will be sanctioned. The vast majority of the fans have taken an exemplary attitude, respecting the opponent”, it is written in the attitude of the red and white club.
