The Disciplinary Commission of the Confederation of African Football has suspended the former Moroccan national team player Mustafa Hadji for falsifying his coaching license.

A CAF statement said Haji has been banned from any sporting activity related to football for the next five years because he falsified his coaching A licence.

Hadji played for Morocco at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups. He played in 63 matches for the national team.

From 2014 to 2022 he was an assistant to three Moroccan coaches, Badou Zaki, Herve Renard and Vahid Halilhdožić, although he never passed his A license. He was relieved of duty in August this year when his fraud was discovered.

Haji (51) has played for Nancy, Sporting, Deportivo, Coventry, Aston Villa, Espanyol, Saarbrücken and Fola Ash in his career. He was named African Footballer of the Year in 1998.
