The new Portuguese coach is not writing off Cristiano Ronaldo

The Spaniard Roberto Martinez was presented as the new head coach of the Portuguese football team, and the first question to the ex-head coach of Belgium was whether he would call Cristiano Ronaldo to the national team.

“My starting point is that I have to count on all the footballers who were on the list for the World Cup in Qatar. Ronaldo was there, he has been a member of the national team for 19 years, he deserves respect, and we will have to sit down and talk with him tomorrow. Some important decisions need to be made for the team” – says the 49-year-old Martinez, who did not close the door to the first scorer in the history of national football.

Qualifications for the European Championship 2024 start already in March, so it remains to be seen what Ronaldo’s role will be in the “new” Portugal.
