Cristiano Ronaldo had an iconic 9-year run at Real Madrid before leaving the club in the summer of 2018 in order to join Juventus. Since then, his career has not gone as well as he would have hoped though. He had a decent individual time in Turin but the club seemed to take a step back and failed to win the Champions League, which was their big goal at the time.
Ronaldo would leave Juventus in 2021 to complete a blockbuster return to Manchester United. But that ended in unexpected circumstances as well, and damaged the Portuguese superstar’s legacy at Old Trafford to a certain extent.
Now, he finds himself at Al-Nassr. Even a year ago, such a move would have seemed impossible. And yet, his time there has not been as successful as fans had hoped.
Once again, Ronaldo’s individual record is good but Al-Nassr have slipped down the league table since his arrival and been knocked out of cup competitions as well. And questions have already been raised about his long-term future.
Ronaldo told to make Real Madrid decision
Ronaldo has been urged to make a return to Real Madrid. As reported by AS, Rivaldo said:
“It would be good for him and for football to see Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Real Madrid to finish his career. Of course, the fans have to understand that they cannot demand the same from him as when he was 25 or 26 years old, but he can still help the club in more conquests.”
Ronaldo has been an exceptional player for so many years. But now, it is time to accept that he is in the twilight of his career and nowhere near his prime anymore.
It would be interesting to see if Real Madrid would bring him back in a playing capacity, even if the opportunity was there to do so at some point in the future. The club have been very smart with their transfers in recent years and such a move would come with a lot of risks for sure. Thus, let’s see what the future holds and whether Ronaldo ever makes a return to Santiago Bernabeu.
