Spanish manager Luis Enrique has reportedly rejected an offer from Chelsea but has been tempted to join Serie A champions Napoli.
Luciano Spalletti will leave Napoli at the end of the season after ending his 33-year wait for the Scudetto, while Luis Enrique has been linked with the coaching job at the Stadio Maradona.
According to media outlets Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, the Spaniard is fast becoming the favorite to replace Spalletti in the 2023-2024 season.
Gazzetta dello Sport add that Luis Enrique, who has already worked in Serie A with Roma, rejected an offer from Chelsea just a few weeks ago but is tempted by a return to the Peninsula.
However, the Italian newspaper reports that no contact has yet been made between president Aurelio De Laurentiis and the former Spain and Roma coach.
Il Corriere dello Sport claims Enrique is fast becoming the frontrunner for the role, although De Laurentiis has also spoken to Antonio Conte and Julian Nagelsmann.
According to the report, De Laurentiis has been in contact with five different candidates for the post, the other three names are unknown, but one could be the 53-year-old who left the Spanish national team after the World Cup in Qatar.
