Man City start talks with Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic

Premier League champions Manchester City have opened talks with Chelsea for midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian midfielder has one more year left on his contract with the Blues, but could leave this summer.

However, Kovacic is available this summer with the London club struggling with Financial Fair Play after spending big last year.

According to the London Evening Standard, champions City have made their move this week and talks have begun between the parties.

Kovacic is keen to see the deal go through and is confident on both sides that it will be successful.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will not stand in Kovacic’s way as he looks to reshape the squad he inherited.

Kovacic’s price is estimated to be 40 million euros, but City hope to buy him for a lower price.
