Official: Fran Garcia, Real Madrid’s new player

Real Madrid have announced their first signing of the summer, bringing back left-back Fran Garcia to the club three seasons after leaving for Rayo Vallecano.

The transfer had been confirmed by Vallecano president Raul Martin Presa and Carlo Ancelotti in recent months, with a deal first reported in February now confirmed by Los Blancos’ official website.

“Real Madrid CF and Rayo Vallecano have agreed on the transfer of player Fran Garcia, who will be with the club for the next four seasons,” the announcement states.

The 23-year-old came from Real Madrid’s academy but moved to Rayo first on loan, and then for two million euros in 2021.

In his three years at Vallecano, he has earned a reputation as one of the best left-backs in the league, making 122 appearances, scoring 5 times and assisting 8 times.

He has signed a four-year contract with Real Madrid, in a deal believed to be worth five million euros.

His release clause was set at 10 million euros, but Real Madrid retained 50 percent of his sale price, thus halving the cost to them.

On Monday, June 12, at 12:00 in Real Madrid City, Fran Garcia will be presented as a new player of Real Madrid, and then he will appear in front of the media.
