Inter are still without a goalkeeper and reports in Argentina suggest they have inquired with Aston Villa about World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez.

The Nerazzurri released Samir Handanovic at the end of his contract and sold Andre Onana to Manchester United but still have no replacement as they begin their pre-season tour in Japan.

Negotiations continue with Bayern Munich for Swiss Yann Sommer, while Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin is another target.

According to TyC Sports, Inter have approached Aston Villa with a €15 million bid for World Cup winner Martinez.

The offer was rejected, but this may just be the beginning of the negotiation process.

Inter have a long history of links with Argentina, including current striker Lautaro Martinez and their legendary vice-president – Javier Zanetti.

Martinez turns 31 in September and moved from Arsenal to Aston Villa for €17.4m in 2020.
