Wilfried Zaha has made an unconventional choice to transfer to Galatasaray. The 30-year-old striker has joined the Turkish club as a free agent on a three-year deal.
Galatasaray has revealed the details of the contract. He will be paid a net signing fee of €2,330,000 and will earn €4,350,000 per year.
Surprisingly, this is less money than what Crystal Palace offered for a contract renewal. According to various reports, the English club was ready to give their main star between 6 and 8 million euros per year: even if it is the lowest amount, it is much more than at Galatasaray.
As for the Saudis, Al Nassr was reportedly willing to pay 30 million euros a year, but Zaha turned it down.
One possible explanation is that Zaha wants to play in the Champions League. But still, despite being the last Turkish champion, Galatasaray must first qualify for the group stage.
Zaha left Crystal Palace as an absolute legend and the team’s most popular player of the last decade. He scored 90 goals and assisted 76 times in 458 appearances for the club, the most for Palace in the Premier League era and the third most in history.
